The Transportation Security Administration says it found loaded guns inside passenger carry-on luggage at Tulsa International Airport and OKC's Will Rogers World Airport this week.

According to the TSA, on July 28, 2014, a 9mm Beretta Nano firearm with six rounds, was found during checkpoint screening in Tulsa.  On July 29, 2014, a 9mm Glock 26 firearm, loaded with 10 rounds was found in a carry-on bag in Oklahoma City.

Officials say it is the 10th firearm they've found during routine security screenings at Tulsa International Airport this year. In Oklahoma City, its the 14th weapon found in carry-on luggage in 2014.

In both cases, TSA alerted police who then took possession of the weapons and questioned the passengers.

“Firearms and ammunition, along with firearm parts and realistic replicas, are always prohibited at the TSA security checkpoint,” said TSA spokesperson Carrie Harmon.

Nationwide, the TSA says it has found 1,070 firearms at security checkpoints this year.

The agency says it has the authority to levy a civil penalty of up to $11,000 against a passenger who brings a firearm to the checkpoint.
