Tuesday Is Election Day In Oklahoma

Voters across Oklahoma will decide a wide variety of races on Tuesday.

Democratic voters will pick their candidate for Superintendent of Public Instruction as well as the candidate who will compete in November for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Dr. Tom Coburn.

Republican and Democratic voters will also cast ballots in several districts for Oklahoma State Senate and Oklahoma State House candidates.

Tulsa County Republicans will choose who will be the next district attorney, because no Democrat is in the race.

Muskogee County Democrats will pick the DA there because there's no Republican in the race.

Broken Arrow residents will cast ballots on eight propositions, including a $36.4 million streets bond and a $5.8 million convention center bond. They'll also be deciding whether to increase the city's hotel tax.

People who live in Sapulpa will decide 11 propositions related to how the city is run, including how the city council fills vacancies and how the fire department fires workers and promotes them.

The Sapulpa school district is asking voters to approve two bond issues, one a $39.3 million construction bond and the other a $1.2 million transportation bond.

The Jay school district hopes voters approve a $12.4 million construction bond.

Several other school districts across northeastern Oklahoma also have bond issues on the ballot Tuesday.

The city of McAlester has seven propositions on the ballot concerning how the city operates, including adopting yearly audits.
