Hertz CEO Steps Down, Former Dollar Thrifty CEO Possible Successor

Hertz Chairman and CEO Mark Frissora has stepped down from his posts for personal reasons.

Hertz Chairman and CEO Mark Frissora has stepped down from his posts for personal reasons. He had served as CEO of Hertz Global since January 2007.

In August 2012, Hertz bought Tulsa-based Dollar Thrifty in a cash and stock deal valued at $2.3 billion. The Federal Trade Commission approved the purchase in July 2013.

Bloomberg Business reported in August some investors have suggested Scott Thompson, the former CEO of Dollar Thrifty as a possible successor.

Hertz, based in Park Ridge, New Jersey, said that it's started the search process for a permanent CEO.

Hertz's stock rose more than 5 percent in pre-market trading.
