A special wish for a very special veteran was granted Saturday at the American Legion Post 1 in Tulsa. A Soldier's Wish is an organization that provides unmet needs for vets.

The group surprised veteran Alton Kristofferson with a brand new ramp - which will replace the stairs outside his home. The surprise was paired with a Veterans appreciation BBQ, and Alton tells us he had no idea that this wish was going to be granted.

"Very good," said local veteran Alton Kristofferson. "I can't really explain it; I was kind of shocked. It's great that they do that."

The organization also presented its first annual Jared Shoemaker Award recognizing a local law enforcement officer who is also a military veteran. Shoemaker was killed in active on September 4, 2006, in Iraq. He was also a Tulsa Police Officer.

Officer Kevin Talley was the award recipient.

The BBQ was free and there was even entertainment all the way from Nashville - the band Tennessee Jet.
