Detectives Collar Tulsa Man Accused Of Wallet Thefts

Tulsa Police detectives arrested a 31-year-old man accused of stealing purses, wallets and cell phones from four different women since August. Investigators estimate he stole at least $20,000, but say they wouldn't be surprised if there were more victims.

Myron Martin was booked into the Tulsa County jail late Monday on 13 larceny complaints stemming from incidents in August and September. 

A police report states on August 20, 2014, Martin was observed on video stealing a purse and cell phones from a local bank office in the 1800 block of South Baltimore. On August 31, 2014, Martin was again seen on video taking a wallet from a victim's purse at south Tulsa church. Several days later on September 5, 2014, Martin was spotted on video stealing a $500 video camera from a business in the 7100 block of South Lewis. 

The report goes on to say Martin stole a wallet from a purse at a University of Oklahoma office on 41st Street, and someone saw him take another wallet from an office of a church located in the 1300 block of East 49th Place both on September 17, 2014. 

"He was very good at it," said Tulsa Police Investigators Kevin Scalf. "He was able to make him or people believe that he belonged where he was at."

In addition, police stated Martin racked up several thousand dollars in charges on some of the credit cards taken from the stolen wallets.

Jail records show Myron Martin is being held in lieu of a $56,000 bond with a court appearance set for September 30, 2014. 

State prison records show Martin is a convicted felon stemming back to 2001.
