Some Edison eighth graders are getting ready for a big trip to California, but they needed some help getting there and back.

Susan Griffin's eighth grade drama leadership class at Edison Middle School were getting ready to audition for the musical Oklahoma; but more than that, they were getting ready for a trip to California for a drama contest.

"We've got a strong drama program at Edison, both high school and middle school, and I wanted to do something with that,” Griffin said.

She's taking 27 kids and a handful of parents and teachers to the contest in early February.

A trip to California is pretty expensive, so they're selling used books people have donated, to make money.

Wednesday, students were busy making signs to advertise the big book sale.

Seems like everyone is doing something to raise money – mowing lawns, babysitting – but they are all working together for the book sale.

It's a week from Saturday at 4020 South Atlanta Place from 7:30 a.m. until noon.
