Tulsa State Fair Offers New Parking Options For 2014

"Weekends are going to be a little more hectic than the weekdays, but other than that, it's really not that bad,” parking attendant Joseph Brandt said. “We're keeping traffic moving and just trying to get everybody in."

Brandt is one of the many parking attendants at the fair this year. He works the lots right around the Expo Center that will be paid on Fridays, weekends and after 5 p.m. on weekdays.

But he says, the $10 price tag isn't turning people away.

“Even though it's paid, they're showing up a lot more,” he said.

And for those hoping for a free spot have the option of taking a shuttle from three different locations.

"It drops you off right in front of the pavilion,” Sarah Thompson said. “There's a gate right there and you're in the fair without any stress and totally hassle free."

And for those parking on site, they say, so far it hasn't been a problem.

“There's still plenty of parking out there, we were surprised since it's Saturday,” Chelsea Ward of Broken Arrow said. “It was really easy to get out. We had plenty of space to get the car seat out and get it clipped on so."

"It's $10 to park and we got in really quickly, and $10 gets you into the fair quicker," Kevin Phillips of Dallas said.

What's the best advice when parking at the fair, whether you take a shuttle or park on site?

“Just take a deep breath,” Brandt said. “We'll get you in as quick as we can."

As for the free parking shuttle locations, they're at Promenade Mall, Nathan Hale High School and Tulsa Public School Service Center.

Buses run every 15 minutes.

Handicapped parking is free and all busses are handicapped accessible.
