Good morning. Warm conditions will continue for the next 48 hours before a strong storm system moves across our area by the middle to end of this week. The chance for shower and thunderstorm activity will be increasing Wednesday into Thursday. Some of the thunderstorm activity may be strong to severe, especially Wednesday afternoon and evening across far northern Oklahoma and most of Kansas. We may have a few showers and storms early Wednesday morning along Highway 412 north into Kansas and some of these could also produce some severe hail and gusty wind.   As the main storm system moves into the central and southern plains Wednesday night and Thursday, a cold front will move across the state of Oklahoma bringing additional shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday morning across northern OK  and Thursday afternoon and evening across far southeastern OK.  At this point we think the front will clear our area Thursday afternoon and evening leaving Friday cooler and drier across eastern Oklahoma. The approaching weekend should be dry and very fall like. Morning lows near 50 will be followed by daytime highs in the mid-70s Saturday and the lower 80s Sunday.

The main upper level system is currently located across the southwestern and western portion of the country this morning. This strong disturbance will move across the desert southwest today and will rapidly move into the northern portion of the country Tuesday afternoon and evening. A strong disturbance will sweep around the base of the main trough and brush part of northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. South winds both today and tomorrow will increase our low level moisture allowing for thunderstorms to develop Wednesday morning across extreme noise in Oklahoma and southern Kansas. These will move to the northeast after the early morning hours with additional thunderstorms possible late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as the actual cold front advances across the area.

Temperatures this morning will start in the 60s and finish in the mid to upper 80s with south winds at 10 mph. Unseasonably warm temperatures will remain through the middle of the week before the cool down occurs Friday into Saturday.

Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.

Have a super great day!
