Tulsa Mayor Urges Citizens To Combat Prescription Drug Abuse

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett made an emotional plea at a public safety summit Friday morning focused on prescription drug abuse.

Tulsa Mayor Dewey Bartlett made an emotional plea at a public safety summit Friday morning focused on prescription drug abuse. 

Bartlett said he recently learned from the state's mental health officials that Tulsa County is number one in Oklahoma for prescription overdoses and fifteenth in the nation. 

During the summit at city hall Bartlett was in tears as he expressed the importance of addressing the issue. 

On Saturday, Tulsa area residents can drop off their unwanted medications during a drug take-back program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Reasor's stores at 71st and Sheridan and 41st and Yale and the Save-A-Lot store at Pine and Lewis.
