Lisa Miller-Baldwin, 48, was so dedicated to her service organization, she had picked up a second job to help keep it afloat.

And when she and her husband were driving near Duncan for work, he fell asleep at the wheel and their car crashed. Lisa wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle.

Family and friends said she was a big-hearted woman with a contagious passion for life.

“She was very passionate about empowering women and not about enabling them in any way, but to truly put them in a position to help them rise,” said Lisa's assistant, Loraine Dudley.

“That passion rubbed off on me. And I'm sure it rubbed off on so many other people,” said Marquise Miller, Lisa's son.

Lisa was the creator of Wonderfully Made, an organization aimed at helping victims of domestic violence and homelessness. From work clothes to literacy classes, those close to her said she just wanted to help people get back on their feet.

“She was that light that we're supposed to be. She was that salt of the Earth, that seasoned everywhere she went,” said Kanika Polk.

Polk moved into the Wonderfully Made shelter for a short time after her relationship became unsafe and she had nowhere else to go. Lisa helped her family find safety and helped Polk find even more.

“I found peace. I found myself. Before I moved in, I didn't know who I was. I didn't know what strengths I had. And she constantly encouraged us to find our purpose,” Polk said.

Despite her passing, that constant encouragement will continue. Lisa's assistant said she promised to push forward and do what Lisa spent her life doing, helping others.

“She literally gave everything she had to make sure this organization stands… and unfortunately it cost her her life,” said Dudley.

Because Lisa poured so much into the organization, financially, Dudley said it needs donations now more than ever, without her here.

According to the police report, Lisa's husband suffered head injuries and was treated and released from the hospital.
