2 Earthquakes Shake Central Oklahoma

The United States Geological Survey reported two earthquakes on Sunday in central Oklahoma.

The first was a 3.0 magnitude earthquake, reported at 7:36 a.m. The epicenter was located five miles south, southwest of Langston and six miles east of Guthrie, at a depth of over three miles, according to the USGS.

At 12:10 p.m., a second 3.0 quake was reported four miles east, northeast of Jones and six miles north, northeast of Choctaw. According to the USGS, the depth was also over three miles.

There are no reports of major injury or damage at this time.

According to the USGS, earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 3.0 are generally the smallest ones felt by humans. Damage is more likely from quakes at a 4.0 magnitude and higher.
