According to officials with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), Chickasha police got a call around 2 p.m. Friday reporting a person doing some mowing had found remains just west of 4th Street and Frisco Avenue near Line Creek.

Chickasha police called OSBI to help at the scene.

Saturday, the Office of the State Medical Examiner and a representative from OU's Archaeology Institute helped collect the remains.

This weekend, officials were not able to tell if the remains were male or female. OSBI officials said they have a good idea of who it might be, but have yet to actually make a positive identification.

Because of the way the body was found, officials believed it had been in that grassy area for six to eight weeks.

The OSBI said it is treating the case as a suspicious death.
