Tulsa Couple Arrested For Abusing 8-Year-Old Daughter

Tulsa police officers arrested a couple accused of physically abusing their eight-year-old daughter.

According to the arrest reports, Wednesday, officers were called to Patrick Henry Elementary in reference to multiple injuries to an eight year old.

When officers arrived, they said bruising could be seen from the child's neck to her legs. Officers said the girl told them her parents, Prashunt and Marivel Patel, hit her with their hands and a belt.

After an examination, the report says, a doctor described the injuries as physical child abuse and noted bruises on the child's “back, butt, legs, arms and face.”

The doctor also examined the victim's 15-month-old sister. According to the report, the doctor noted bruising consistent with excessive punishment.

Jail records show both Prashunt and Marivel Patel are being held on $50,000 bond each for physical child abuse.
