Six Tulsa players scored in double-figures as the Golden Hurricane posted a 102-61 exhibition victory over Southern Nazarene Thursday night in front of 753 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Tulsa ended its exhibition season with a 2-0 record and will open up the regular season next Friday night.

Sophomore newcomer Teanna Reid tallied a triple-double with 14 points, 11 assists and 11 steals for the Hurricane. Fellow sophomore Rickae Jinks ended with a team-high 15 points and grabbed five rebounds.

Tulsa senior Mariah Turner, junior Kelsee Grovey and freshman Erika Wakefield each added 13 points in the Tulsa victory, while junior Antoinet Webster scored 10 points off the bench. SNU's Abby Boyd had a team-high 20 points to lead three players in double digits.

“I think it was fun to watch,” coach Matilda Mossman said. “Most of our offense was created off our defense. We were getting out in passing lanes and getting touches. I thought Teanna Reid played really, really well. She was everywhere defensively, handing out assists, getting steals and scoring as well. I was pleased with our overall effort. Players gave up shots to give someone else a better shot, and I think that will carry us a long way. There are plenty of things that we still need to fix, but I am pleased with where we are at this point.”

The Hurricane increased its 21-point halftime lead to 32 points within the first four minutes as Kadan Brady's three-pointer put the Hurricane ahead 63-31 at the 16:21 mark. Tulsa's defense held Southern Nazarene to just a three-pointer in the first 7:49 of the second half, as Tulsa built the lead to 75-31 before the Crimson Storm would score again at the 11:27 mark.

Tulsa's biggest lead of the game was 48 points with 2:29 remaining in the game on two free throws by Reid to make the score 102-54.

The Hurricane finished with its first 100-point scoring game in school history, including exhibition and regular season games, while Tulsa shot 53-percent from the field, but just 29-percent from three-point range. Tulsa scored 38 points off of 32 Southern Nazarene turnovers and outscored the Crimson Storm 62 to 10 in the paint.

In the first four minutes of the opening half, Tulsa ran out to a 13-3 lead, before Southern Nazarene cut it to five points on a 7-2 run of its own over the next three minutes. The Tulsa lead stayed to single digits before Mariah Turner's free throw made the score 20-10 at the 10:51 mark.

Tulsa would not look back after that point, stretching its first-half lead to as many as 23 points, before ending the first half with a 49-28 lead.

Nine of Tulsa's 10 players in the first half scored in the game, led by Jinks' 11 points and four rebounds of the bench. Tulsa shot 53-percent from the field, scoring 28 of its points in the paint, and making 86-percent of its shots from three point range, while forcing the visitors into 17 first-half turnovers for 17 points.

Tulsa tips off the regular season Nov. 14 with a home contest against Northern Iowa of the Missouri Valley Conference. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
