Jenks Public Schools say the Pre-K students at Southeast Elementary school were moved Monday to alternative areas in the school after a Pre-K student was diagnosed with viral meningitis.

Southeast Elementary school principal Lindy Risenhoover says the unidentified student was taken to the hospital over the weekend and tests confirmed the student did not have bacterial meningitis.

She said Southeast Elementary School at 10222 South Yale moved the students so the district could thoroughly clean and sanitize the Pre-K classroom area as per Tulsa Health Department guidelines.

Viral meningitis is a much milder form and those affected usually recover completely with rest and fever-reducing medicine.
