ORU Women's Basketball Falls To 2-3 After Loss To UALR

Oral Roberts women's basketball took on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Wednesday. ORU lost 54-43 in the matchup, falling to 2-3 on the season.

UALR got on the board first at the 17:58 mark. ORU put up points shortly after that when Atoe' Jackson got the easy two with a layup. The Trojans quickly snatched the lead, and kept it for the remainder of the game. Going into halftime ORU was trailing UALR 17-22.

Oral Roberts was 6-17 from the field, 2-7 from the three-point line, and 3-5 from the free throw line. UALR was 7-24 from the field, 0-2 from the three, and 8-12 from the free throw line. The Trojans led in rebounds (18-17) and steals (10-2). Finishing the half, they only had seven turnovers, while ORU had 15.

ORU's Jordan Doyle led the Golden Eagles in the first half with six points. She also pulled down two rebounds and had one assist. The Trojans' Shanity James led all scorers with ten points.

Opening up the second half, ORU began to cut down the Trojans lead. By 17:51 the Golden Eagles were only trailing by one.

The Trojans got hot and extended their lead 36-28 midway through the half. With 8:40 to play, they were leading by 9. They then scored back-to-back, on a 15-3 run, and took their biggest lead of the night (44-31).

The Golden Eagles proceeded to miss baskets and turn the ball over, helping the Trojans maintain their 46-34 lead.

In the final two minutes ORU trailed 38-52. UALR ran the court and beat the Golden Eagles 54-43, advancing to 4-0 on the season.

ORU finished the game shooting 35 percent from the field, 40 percent from the three, and 61 percent from the free throw line. They ended with six steals, three blocks, seven assists, and 24 turnovers. The Trojans shot 38 percent from the field, 28 percent from the three, and 57 percent from the free throw line. They wrapped up with 14 steals, one block, 16 assists, and 14 turnovers.

Bernadett Balla led ORU in scoring, finishing the game with 12 points. Doyle trailed behind her teammate with eight.

The Golden Eagles hit the floor again Friday, November 28, to take on North Carolina A&T in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
