'Gray Thursday' Takes Some Heat Off Black Friday Shopping

Black Friday is underway, and the Tulsa area is bustling on the biggest shopping weekend of the year. Traffic seems calm, and some shoppers are already done after what some are calling "Gray Thursday," since many stores opened at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.

"Everybody was looking for some of the big gifts we have to offer," said a manager of Academy Sports. Hoodies and fitness trackers were big at the sports store.

Movies made an impact on Black Friday shopping with archery items popular thanks to the Hunger Games movies and Frozen items still big.

Bass Pro in Broken Arrow had a busy morning with cars crowding the parking lot and shoppers crowding the hunting and sporting goods mecca.

Electronics are also bringing people out to the stores. Best Buy was busy as was Target, but many shoppers agreed that the early opening on Gray Thursday took some of the heat off Friday's bargain shopper.

The National Retail Federation estimates 140 million shoppers will be out this holiday weekend.
