If Friday night was Bill Blankenship's last game as head coach at TU, his team definitely didn't die down. Tulsa was within one field goal at the end of the third quarter, but finally ran out of gas.

"You really want your guys to go out fighting and swinging, and I thought we did. We played very, very well, and we stood in there and played aggressively against a very good football team," stated Blankenship.

Tulsa finished the year 2-10, its worst record since 2002. Blankenship points to improve on offense as a key reason to why he deserves a fifth season.

Blankenship said, "Dane either finished in fifth or sixth of all-time passing yards ever. Tulsa's got a great tradition in passing, and for him to have the fifth or sixth best season ever [is great]. For Keevan Lucas to have the third best season ever, now listen guys, [he is] the third receiver in Tulsa history to have 100 catches in a season. We're in the top two or three in the conference offensively. A year ago, I was charged with fixing that, and we fixed it."

"I think he deserves another chance. I think the people on this team haven't given up on him, [and] aren't willing to give up on him. That's ultimately what happens. He's shown he can win. He's put up an 11-3 season," stated senior linebacker Jake Sizelove.

TU said a decision isn't expected until Blankenship meets with Athletic Director Dr. Derrick Gragg sometime early next week. Offensive coordinator Denver Johnson took in the alma mater alongside the band, and he told the students that he appreciated their support due to the fact that the team wasn't easy to cheer for this season. At this time, everyone will have to wait to see how much the administration appreciates Blankenship and his staff.
