Tulsa Leaders Kick Off City-Wide Food Drive

Leaders of the City of Tulsa began a food drive called Stock the Station on Monday, December 1, 2014.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett joined city councilors Karen Gilbert and David Patrick to begin the drive at Fire Station #4 in downtown Tulsa.

People can drop off non-perishable food items at any City of Tulsa fire station, police station, city-county library, City Hall or any other city facility.

"The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma will be the recipient of the food collected by the citywide food drive. We will then deliver goods to our 125 partner agencies located in Tulsa proper for families in need. We are so grateful to City leaders for this effort," said Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma Executive Director Eileen Bradshaw.

The Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma can turn $1 into four meals. Citizens are also encouraged to make cash donations, which will be matched by the George Kaiser Family Foundation.

To donate, the food bank's web site and click the “Donate Now” button. Choose Stock the Station in the drop-down menu so funds can be earmarked for the citywide food drive.

Items needed for the food drive include cereal, rice, pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meats and peanut butter.
