Go Fund Me Account Set Up For Good Samaritan Sued By Alleged Tulsa Groper

A Go Fund Me account has been set up to help with legal expenses of a man who is being sued after he came to the aid of a woman at the Tulsa Professional Bull Riders event earlier this year.

Shane Vernon is being sued by the man who is charged with felony sexual battery in the incident.

Melissa Smith was working the event when she says a man grabbed her rear end. Vernon told News On 6 he yelled at Leonel Olivarez, grabbed the man's cigars and cowboy hat and threw them into the arena.

Olivarez, who has been charged by Tulsa County prosecutors, is suing Vernon saying his actions suggested an imminent physical attack and were designed to embarrass Olivarez.

Police say Olivarez also admitted to groping Smith and wrote her a letter of apology. Olivarez's attorney says his client has no prior record and is facing up to 10 years in prison and registering as a sex offender.

Vernon has not commented on the lawsuit and now has to hire an attorney. Smith said she does not believe Vernon should be sued for doing what's right.
