A suspected burglar is behind bars after leading police on a chase. Police said an alert neighbor tipped them off after noticing a strange truck in their neighborhood.

The said the people in the truck seemed to be checking out one of the homes in the neighborhood and that gut instinct proved to be right.

Mitchell Folsom may be spending Christmas behind bars, but police said they may never have caught him if it weren't for a Good Samaritan looking out for his neighbors.

The neighbor is a watchman of sorts and said he was opening his windows around 8 a.m. when he saw something that just didn't look right.

"I seen this truck going down through the neighborhood, slow, you know. I thought he was looking for somebody's address, so I didn't know, but I looked at the back of the truck and the tailgate was painted with black paint and I couldn't see no tag, so that's what gave me, like, something's going on," the neighbor said.

He said that's when he started to pay attention and called 911.

The call led to a police chase that ended with a crash at Highway 11 and Sheridan Road, and Folsom behind bars.

Police said Folsom led them all the way from I-244 and Garnett where they said he refused to pull over.

Police credit the neighbor's intuition for helping them take a thief off the street.

“He got out and started to look over this fence over here and I guess he couldn't get over it or whatever, and then he went to the front of the house and he was looking, and then he got back in the truck and he kept leaning over like he was looking for something," the neighbor said.

Police said the neighbor was right thinking Folsom was up to no good. According to them, the orange truck Folsom was driving was stolen and they found burglary tools inside.

The neighbor said he was just doing what the man upstairs would want him to do, by looking out for a fellow neighbor.

Folsom was taken into custody on complaints of possession of a stolen vehicle, eluding police, resisting arrest, possession of burglary tools, possessing stolen property and driving with a suspended license.
