Recycling's Naughty Or Nice List
TULSA, Oklahoma - Unwrapped toys means there will be a lot of wrapping paper, bows, and tinsel lying around after Christmas.
Believe it or not, you cannot recycle all of your wrapping paper. Unwrapping Christmas presents seems fun, but it leaves a mess. The City of Tulsa is asking everyone to recycle what can be recycled.
"It's a wonderful thing we have here in Tulsa to be able to recycle right at our curb," said Keri Fothergill of City of Tulsa. Fothergill created a naughty list of things that cannot be recycled.
It says do not recycle: gift bags, styrofoam, bubble wrap, bows, tinsel, ornaments, tree skirts, or electronics. Nothing with a cord or batteries can be recycled.
There are certain types of paper that can and can't be recycled. Plain paper can be recycled, but paper with foil or glitter must go in the trash. "The wrapping paper with the foil and the glitter, go ahead and put that in the gray cart," said Fothergill.
Christmas lights and Christmas trees also can't be recycled. "We're offering complimentary collection for Christmas trees, but if they're over six foot, they're going to have to cut them down and bundle them up and put them at the curb," Fothergill explained.
If you're in doubt about whether something can be recycled, you can look it up on the City of Tulsa website.
