Freezing rain will be possible Sunday night into early Monday morning before completely clearing the area. Not much freezing rain is expected, but it could still be enough for slick spots to develop on roadways.

Northeastern Oklahoma was left out of most of Sunday morning's freezing rain but as this system continues eastward, moisture will wrap around it and approach Green Country from the north.

As usual, you'll want to watch the bridges and overpasses, especially as well as secondary roads or untreated surfaces.

With another wave coming through on Wednesday and cold air in place, there will be a chance for snow - some of which could be accumulating, especially out in northwestern Oklahoma. Warmer air will then be welcomed back into Oklahoma just in time for the weekend.

Southeast Oklahoma had a taste of winter weather Sunday morning as an upper level low moved northeast out of Texas. Temperatures held steady just below freezing early in the day, causing freezing rain across much of the area.

As of 11 a.m., road conditions in southeastern Oklahoma are improving though ODOT crews are treating isolated slick areas on highways in Sequoyah and Adair counties. They remind motorists to stay at least 200 feet behind ODOT trucks and road clearing equipment.

The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety says some higher elevations in McCurtain, Leflore and Pushmataha counties had black ice.

U.S. Highway 259 in Leflore County was closed to southbound traffic at Big Cedar and northbound traffic at Octavia due to icy conditions just before 1 a.m., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

It was re-opened at 7:40 a.m.
