Flu season has been terrible in Tulsa this year, which is one reason the Oklahoma Caring Van is making stops in our area to offer free flu immunizations to children who qualify.

The Caring Van was at the WIC office at 21st and Mingo Wednesday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Caring Foundation offers free flu vaccinations to children who are on Sooner Care, are uninsured, or are Native American.

The van offers both the shot and the mist versions.

They also offer free immunizations that are ones required for school enrollment.

"It's very important for children to get their immunizations, it really protects them as well as children around them that can't be immunized," said Clinic Coordinator with the Caring Foundation, Tina Pyeatt.

The van will make several more stops in Tulsa this month.
