NBA Hosts First-Ever Fashion Show
NEW YORK - The first-ever NBA fashion show, titled NBA All-Star All-Style, will air Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. The event will showcase some of the league's most fashion-forward trends, along with some of its top players and personalities.
Lebron James produced the one-hour show through his Springhill Production Company, along with the help of Turner Sports and IMG. The gathering will present a runway competition that features: James Harden, Klay Thompson, Chandler Parsons, DeMarcus Cousins, Zach LaVine, and other NBA stars. The project will also feature supermodels and style experts.
The function will be presented by Samsung Galaxy (inside the grand ballroom of the historic Hammerstein Theater in New York). It will have three rounds, including boardroom dress, a night out, and game attire. The players will team with a stylist and model for their catwalk appearances. Round one will consist of eight players, with only four advancing to round two. The top two from round two will move on to the finals.
The judging panel will be made up of: Inside the NBA's Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, along with designer John Elliott, WNBA star Elena Delle Donne, and GQ Style editor Will Welch. Shaquille O'Neal will also be in attendance as an emcee, while funny man Kevin Hart provides commentary and handles backstage interviews. John wall and Turner Sports style correspondent Damaris Lewis will also be involved in the fun.
“The NBA and its players have always been at the forefront of style and entertainment, and this show falls directly at that intersection of sports and pop culture,” said Craig Barry of Turner Sports. “This will be a fun [and] innovative showcase, as an extension of All-Star weekend, that serves as a great opportunity to create an entertaining experience for passionate and casual fans of all ages.”
The anticipated feature will be televised on TNT, and will include live performances by recording artists Wale, Flo Rida, and DJ NEM.
