The City of Tulsa is trying to encourage passenger rail service into downtown.

The city council wants passengers on trains to come into downtown, possibly into the Union Depot, but the council considers the site of the station less important than just getting the rail line from Oklahoma City all the way into Tulsa.

"Going to Sapulpa isn't as convenient, and we're the central city, so I think they would get a lot more participation if the train came all the way into our city," Tulsa City Councilor, Jeannie Cue said.

The council has written to the railroads to ask for the service into downtown and pledged their help in making it happen.
