After a brief break from winter precipitation another round could be making its way to Green Country Friday.

According to the Tulsa office of the National Weather Service, areas of drizzle or light rain combined with temperatures below freezing could result in some ice on roads and bridges in northeast Oklahoma.

News On 6 Meteorologist Dick Faurot said, while temperatures may start out freezing, they are expected to climb into the 40s as the day continues.

He said the freezing drizzle will turn to rain which could impact much of the weekend.

“A stronger storm aloft will then be impacting the state for the weekend with widespread rain likely Friday night into Saturday morning and perhaps even some thunder for the far SE counties,” Faurot said.

While temperatures are expected to remain close to the 40-degree mark most of Friday and Saturday, more cold air will move in Saturday night.

“Saturday night, Sunday and through the day Monday, we'll be back in the freezer with temperatures not likely much above freezing, if at all,” Faurot said.

Snow could also make an appearance, according to Faurot. He said with the weekend expected to be mostly cloudy some weak systems might leak out some flurries but said it doesn't appear to be significant.
