Winter is coming back in full force on Sunday with strong north winds and temperatures below freezing all day. This cold spell comes with a round or two of snow showers and flurries for our region the next few days.

On Sunday, a band of light snow and flurries is setting up across northern Oklahoma and could cause a dusting in areas as far east as Tulsa and Vinita. During the day, occasional flurries and light snow are expected in eastern Oklahoma with only minor accumulations if they would occur at all.

By afternoon, light to moderate snow may become better defined across southeastern Oklahoma, causing some slick spots on roads by late afternoon and evening along and south of Interstate 40.

The heaviest snow will stay across far northwestern Oklahoma, but some travel impacts may occur in our area Sunday, as the day goes on. No Winter Weather Advisories or warnings have been posted at this time.

On Monday, another round of light snow and flurries is expected across the state. The highest chances remain across southern Oklahoma where another inch or two of snow could occur. It could amount to another light coating of snow for parts of eastern Oklahoma with temperatures below freezing all that day as well.

The bottom line is to watch out for a few slick spots if snow has fallen in the area and expect some travel difficulties in southeastern Oklahoma by Sunday evening. Wind chill values may also fall into the teens and single digits during this time as well.
