After a meeting this week, board of directors for Volunteer Tulsa has voted to dissolve the organization.

“This difficult decision came after the board and staff explored various options and alternatives in the hope of securing long-term financial stability,” a news release says.

Volunteer Tulsa has connected citizens with ways they can serve their community. It also educated and prepared nonprofit professionals to oversee operations in their own organizations and provided disaster response training.

Volunteer Tulsa began in 2005. The release says it recorded 862,252 hours of volunteer time, talent and expertise. The organization facilitated 5,000 hours in adult education. It presented volunteer service awards to more than 1,300 people.

“On behalf of the board, I want to thank the volunteers, partners and funders who supported Volunteer Tulsa since its incorporation 10 years ago,” board president Lynn Staggs said. “We've been privileged to shine a light on the impact of volunteers and volunteer administrators in the Tulsa metro and Northeast Oklahoma areas.”
