Northeastern Oklahoma A&M's Asia McCaskill of the Lady Norse basketball team received the Dixie Woodall Inspirational Award for her successes on and off the court.

The award is presented annually in honor of the legendary Dixie Woodall. Woodall played two years at NEO, before graduating in 1959 and pursuing a national and international playing career. She turned coach later in her career, and was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005.

“Asia exemplifies all that is good about junior college athletics… Her work ethic, commitment to excellence and outstanding character make her a great choice to receive the Dixie Woodall Inspirational Award,” said NEO's athletic director Dale Patterson.

Patterson isn't the only the one that believes McCaskill is more than deserving of the honor, her coach does as well. “She represents the program with high integrity on and off the court and truly understands what it means to be a Lady Norse,” said Lady Norse head coach Jim Rowland.

McCaskill is a 5'9” guard from Tulsa's Union High School. After her NEO graduation in May, she plans on attending a university to major in natural sciences, and of course play basketball.
