A groundbreaking took place Tuesday for a home being built for a Salina veteran and his family.

U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Ronny Sweger, his wife Claudia and their three boys were the recipients of a new mortgage free home from Operation Finally Home.  The family lost their home in a fire in June 2014.

"It takes a lot of worry off our minds so that we can actually get more involved and give back to the veterans and their families that we try to help on a daily basis,"said Claudia Sweger.

Claudia's husband Ronny has been deployed seven times to Afghanistan, Iraq and Africa from 2001 to 2004.

He's been awarded two Purple Hearts, multiple Bronze Stars and a Special Forces Tab.

The new home is being built in Mounds.
