Police took three teens into custody after a short chase early Wednesday in east Tulsa.

Officers said members of the department's gang unit spotted a Ford Focus on Mingo at about 1 a.m. and learned it was stolen. When they attempted to stop the car the driver took off turning into a neighborhood.

Police said the chase ended when the car hit a mail box knocking it down at 31th and 104th East Avenue.

Officers said the two teenage passengers, a male and a female were taken into custody without incident, but the driver ran away. Police said a K-9 officer helped capture him a short distance away.

They said the teen was taken to the hospital to be treated for a dog bite before police took him to the Tulsa County jail.

Officers said all three were under the age of 17.
