Last week we told you about Sand Springs teens helping a local church clean up after Wednesday's tornado barreled through the area.

It was a day full of rejoicing at Keystone Hills Baptist Church on New Prue Road. The church was in the path of the EF2 tornado that killed one person and injured several others.

Members held services in the church gym on Sunday because there isn't much left of the sanctuary.

The front of the building was in the parking lot, along with other debris littering the area. Walls are caved in, and the space is not safe to enter.

But despite the beat-up building, the spirit of the church lives on.

"It's not the building or the facility that has to do with the church,” Larry Dyer said. “Church is where you carry it."

"We've made a makeshift sign out front to let people know we're still having church, we are the church, so we're here," senior pastor Mark Bane said.

And, he said, the members will be there no matter what.

“We were going to have church out here if it was in the parking lot, we were going to have church here today," Dyer said.

It made it a Palm Sunday they'll never forget and an even more memorable Easter.

Because even through adversity, church members say, they'll overcome.

“I feel wonderful,” Brenda Dyer said. “I feel wonderful, because you know, we're together. The church family is together again.”

Larry added, “This church is going to come back stronger than it ever was."

The church will be holding services for Easter weekend. The pastor says rebuilding could take up to a year.
