Bald Eagle Shot, Killed In Northwest Arkansas

A bald eagle was shot in northwest Arkansas last month and a reward is now being offered for information, according to state wildlife officials.

Officials told KFSM, the CBS affiliate in Fort Smith, Arkansas the bird was shot on March 9, and a reward of up to $6,000 is being offered for information leading to a conviction of the person(s) responsible.

The Arkansas Fish and Game Commission says the dead eagle was found near Beaver Lake.  The bird is the fourth bald eagle found shot in Arkansas in the past few months, officials said.

Bald eagles are protected by federal law, and anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission at 800-482-9262.
