Removing kids up to 3 years old from Oklahoma's foster system and into permanent homes is the focus of a new Tulsa nonprofit group.

That group makes up more than 30 percent of kids entering the Oklahoma foster program every year.

The Safe Babies Court Team helps kids find permanent homes and also works with children during some of their most important developmental years.

The director says this is a first of its kind program in Oklahoma.

"I think Tulsa is going to be a trendsetter for the state of Oklahoma in helping families who are really at their last end of survival,” director Lucy Hudson said.

Oklahoma is the 13th state to get the Safe Babies Court Team Program.
