Oklahoma football has agreed on a three-game series with Tulane that is scheduled to begin in 2017.

The Sooners will host Tulane on Sept. 16, 2017 and in 2024, while the Sooners will travel to New Orleans to take on the Green Wave in 2021. This series will be the first time the two teams have faced each other on the football field.

"For a variety of reasons, we are very excited to see this series come together and appreciate (Tulane Athletics Director) Rick Dickson for helping make it happen," said OU Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione. "Tulane's program is in the midst of a resurgence, between the move to a new conference and the opening of the new on-campus stadium. We also have an opportunity to play in an area of Louisiana where we recruit and where a large number of OU graduates reside from all academic programs, but most notably from business, geology, engineering and energy disciplines. New Orleans is also the home of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the site where our Big 12 champion will play and a wonderful destination which is accessible for our great Sooner fans."

Tulane opened an on-campus stadium this past fall. Yulman Stadium seats 30,000, considerably smaller than the Superdome, where the Green Wave had been playing, but much more fitting of a program of Tulane's stature.

With Thursday's announcement, Oklahoma's 2017 non-conference schedule is complete. The Sooners will open Sept. 2 that season at home against UTEP. They will play Sept. 9 at Ohio State before hosting Tulane the following week.
