A man is in jail after leading police on a chase in a stolen minivan in North Tulsa early Tuesday, according to Tulsa Police.

Authorities say 20-year-old Antonio Monroy ran a stop sign at North Yorktown and Pine, and then refused to stop when an officer tried to pull him over.

The chase ended when Monroy spun out near North Sheridan on Apache, after hitting speeds up to 80 miles per hour, officers say. Officers used spike strips to disable the minivan, but Monroy was able to keep driving until he hit a tree in the 6100 block of East Virgin.

Police say they also found a bag of meth and a loaded revolver on Monroy. He was booked on complaints of drug possession, eluding, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a firearm and other traffic complaints.

Court records show he has been convicted in the past for stealing a car and kicking a police dog.
