Police arrested a Bristow man they say punched a Tulsa firefighter at the scene of a car crash Sunday night.

Tulsa Police said the crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. in the 11300 block of East 21st Street near Garnett.

Officers said Austin Jones, 21, crashed his Ford Mustang into a parked Dodge Journey and then tried to leave the scene. Firefighters tried to stop him, police said. During the struggle, Jones punched one firefighter in the face then ran away, according to police.

They say firefighters and EMSA paramedics caught up with Jones and held him for police.

Police booked Austin Jones into the Tulsa County jail on complaints of DUI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. Jail records show Jones was being held on a $15,500 bond.
