Wagoner County is preparing for another round of flooding by offering thousands of sand bags to residents across the county.

Wagoner County Emergency Management says the bags were left over from flooding earlier this month.  Tuesday evening volunteers dropped them off at homes that had already had flooding problems.

Officials say so far, about 4,200 bags have been distributed and emergency management has about 50,000 empty bags left.

Heath Underwood, Wagoner County Emergency Management director says more than 100 residents have called requesting sandbags.

He says volunteers are filling the bags, but more will be needed because the demand is expected to grow when rain from tropical depression Bill starts falling.

"The phone has not stopped ringing of people just needing sandbags. Right now we're trying to protect the people that need them first that have homes that have actually flooded and have FEMA documentation on them and we've documented and then we'll help people after that," said Heath Underwood, Wagoner County Emergency Management director.

The nearby Holliday sand plant has donated 50 tons of sand which officials say will fill all the bags they have.
