Former Jenks and Oral Roberts pitcher Dallas Beeler was called up by the Chicago Cubs Tuesday night to start against the Cardinals in Game 2 of its doubleheader at Wrigley Field.

The Triple-A pitcher who started the season on the disabled list due to an injured shoulder looked good in Game 2 as the Cubs defeated St. Louis 5-3. The Team also won Game 1, 7-4, in its first doubleheader sweep at Wrigley since its sweep of Pittsburgh September 27, 2003.

Beeler, who started the season just 1-5 with a 6.33 ERA, has been pitching much better recently.

In Tuesday night’s game with Chicago, he pitched five solid innings before stepping off the mound. He finished the game with six strikeouts and two walks while allowing only four hits. He also added a left field double his first at-bat.

Beeler made a couple appearances for the Cubs last year when they were in rebuilding mode, but this time around things look a lot better.
