Blue Bell trucks filled with ice cream are on the road again, headed to distribution centers.

Tuesday, the company sent out a Tweet with a video of a truck, which got many people talking about Blue Bell’s comeback.

While it could mean the ice cream could be back soon, company officials couldn't say when the Broken Arrow Blue Bell plant would be up and running again, but did say the facility is making good progress.

Even though production hasn't started there yet, ice cream is being made at its Alabama plant, which excites many Oklahomans, like Shirley Sprenger.

"That is excellent news. We are so excited; we can't wait to get more Blue Bell. We have a place in our freezer already cleared out to put blue bell in it," she said.

Blue Bell Creamery shared a video on Twitter showing one of the first trucks headed out with ice cream.

Blue Bell ice cream has been off the shelves for months, leaving people with only a few options.

"We have had to break down and buy another brand, but it is not the same as Blue Bell. We want our Blue Bell back," Sprenger said.

The Broken Arrow facility shut down production in April after some of its products were found to be contaminated with listeria.

Since then the company has been working on improvements and says:

"Our Broken Arrow facility is making good progress, but we do not have a firm date for when it will begin producing ice cream."

Sprenger said, "It is sad to go by and see it empty; and every day you look and think, when is it going to come back, when are we going to have it back?"

Earlier this month, the company announced a plant in Alabama started making ice cream again. Blue Bell said the facility there is smaller, which allowed them to complete improvements sooner.

The company said the trucks spotted are headed to a limited number of distribution centers to start building inventory, but there is no confirmed date when Blue Bell will be back in the freezer section.

Until then, ice cream lovers in Oklahoma can only dream of what flavor they'll buy first. Sprenger said, for her, it’s strawberry.

One of the major reasons the company is able to bounce back so quickly is because of an investment by Sid Bass, a prominent Texas businessman who become a partner in June.

News On 6 called Reasor’s and Warehouse Market to see if Blue Bells told them when to expect the first delivery, but they said they haven't heard.
