Affidavit: Woman Says Boyfriend Shot, Killed Father, Sapulpa Officer

The girlfriend of a man accused of killing his father and a Sapulpa police officer admitted her boyfriend was responsible, documents show.

An affidavit shows Daphne Mason told police she saw her boyfriend Johnny Grafton shoot and kill his father, Jeffrey, and his cousin Lieutenant Trey Pritchard.

The document says Mason told police she and Johnny stole some money from his dad and didn’t want to get in trouble, so they took his truck to Midwest City and checked into a hotel.

She said a short time later Jeffrey and Pritchard knocked on the door and were let in by her boyfriend.

According to the document, Mason said Johnny and his father got into an argument, then a fight. That’s when, according to Mason, Johnny got his gun out of the nightstand and shot both men.

She said she and Johnny then left in the truck and threw their cell phone out on the highway so they wouldn’t be traced. Then, she said, they left the truck and took a cab to Enid.

The document says Mason told police they were trying to get as far away as possible.

Police say Johnny refused to answer their questions.

Both Johnny Grafton and Daphne Mason were booked into jail for two counts of murder.

Tuesday, a hearse carrying Pritchard's body left the state Medical Examiner's Office in Oklahoma City at about 12:30 p.m.

Dozens of law enforcement officers escorted the hearse in a procession up the Turner Turnpike to Sapulpa. An honor guard met the hearse at a Sapulpa funeral home at about 2 p.m.

The Sapulpa Police Department said it’s shaken to the core by the murder of one of its own. The community showed their support too, as flags were lowered to half-staff to honor a man his co-workers say was courageous and always willing to help others.
