Two systems back to back are bringing rain to Green Country for the next few days. When it’s all said and done, some folks could see 2 to 4 inches in their rain gauge.

After the wild fires last week, rain brings a sigh of relief to some.

As far as the two systems are concerned: system #1 moves in tonight and moves out Monday morning; system #2 moves in Monday night and moves out Tuesday morning. System #2 is the stronger one and will pose a threat for some strong to severe storms.

Starting with system #1, eastern Oklahoma will start to see showers and some embedded storms move into the area from the south/southwest this afternoon. Most likely, the rain should hold off into the later afternoon and evening hours. Look for widespread rain to fall overnight and continue for the first part of Monday.

Roads should be wet for morning commutes and heavy showers could still impact some folks on their way to work. Winds will be strong tonight as well with wind gusts around 25 to 30 overnight.

System #1 should move eastward by Monday afternoon but at the same time system #2 will be entering into the western portions of Oklahoma. Scattered showers and storms will still be possible for the afternoon even though we are in-between systems.

The better rain and storm chances will once again come in the evening and overnight. There will be a threat for strong to severe storms across the state. With these storms, damaging winds will be our main concern but the chance for a tornado cannot be ruled out. Remember last week’s tornado near Okemah?

By Tuesday morning, we are almost done. Still some heavy rain to deal with trying to get to work but the system will continue moving east and by late afternoon, we should be done. I am even hoping for a little sunshine during the late afternoon. Nice fall weather will prevail for a few days as catch much need break from the rain...until the next round (which could be as soon as next weekend).
