Several neighborhoods all across Tulsa are on high alert after some residents said they've noticed a tick in daytime burglaries, adding they've seen suspicious people walking around their neighborhoods lately.

They're warning residents to watch out for people posing as construction crews, but police can't say for sure there's a link there.

Someone broke into a house near 75th and Sheridan on Wednesday; they took off with a couple of TV's, laptops and iPods.

"On this side of town, I was very surprised. Very surprised 'cause it's a quiet neighborhood," said neighbor Carl Boone.

Some neighbors said they've noticed strangers walking around, dressed as construction workers. They go from door to door, asking if you need any work done.

Sergeant Brian Blair with Tulsa Police said, "People dressed in reflective vests, knocking door to door with a survey, they have clipboards, I was told."

And if you're not home, police said the so-called construction workers could be casing your house, getting ready to break in.

But, as of right now, there's no proof.

Blair said, "Nobody ever actually saw them go inside that residence, so we can't really link them to that burglary. But it is a possibility."

Police said it's always better safe than sorry and if you feel the situation is suspicious, you should call them right away.

It's also a good idea to document the visit somehow so you have some hard proof; that's what Boone and his neighbors plan to do.

"Personally, I hope they knock on my door, so before I open my door, I'm gonna have my camera and I'm gonna take a picture of 'em, and I'm gonna say, ‘what do you want,’" Boone said.

Police said you should ask the workers for their ID and their business card. If they refuse to show it, call police.
