A pedestrian was killed when struck by a vehicle on an Interstate 40 on-ramp in western Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol says.

OHP says Weatherford police received a call shortly before 1 a.m. on Friday that the person was lying on the 80A on-ramp. The person's name and gender were not immediately released.

A witness told police that the driver of the vehicle involved continued westbound on I-40. OHP says Clinton police and the Custer County Sheriff's Department are helping search for the vehicle and the driver.
