Tulsa Police say a girl was hit by a pickup Wednesday morning on her way to school, but they expect her to be OK.

The location was initially reported as Celia Clinton Elementary at 1740 North Harvard Avenue. Police said it actually happened several blocks north of there, in the 2200 block of North Harvard.

Police said witnesses told them a group of middle school students was crossing Harvard from west to east when the girl, who was the 6th or 7th to cross, was hit by a red pickup.

According to witnesses, the woman was driving at 25-30 mph and slammed on the brakes and swerved, but was unable to avoid hitting the 14-year-old girl. Officers at the scene said they believed she was not seriously hurt, but an ambulance took her to a hospital.

Police said they don't expect to cite the woman driving the truck.
