The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said a man died after the heavy equipment he was operating collided with a train near Lenapah Wednesday morning.

The OHP said the man was driving a Nowata County grader eastbound on EW Road 8 just west of Highway 169 when the crash happened. Trooper Austin Brown said the train engineer blew the train's horn and tried to stop but could not avoid the collision.

The crossing has no guards, just warning signs.

Trooper Brown said the grader driver was moving the equipment from one work site to another when he drove onto the railroad crossing.

The OHP has not released the identity of the grader driver.
