Spirit AeroSystems Offers Voluntary Layoff, Retirement To Tulsa Workers

Spirit AeroSystems announced voluntary retirement and layoff programs to some of its workers in Tulsa, McAlester and Wichita.

The offer goes to executive, management and salaried employees as wells those represented by SPEEA WEU and SPEEA WTPU. SPEEA is the American Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace. WEU stands for Wichita Engineering Unit and WTPU is the Wichita Professional & Technical Unit.

To qualify for the retirement program, employees in the affected groups must be 55 and have ten years of service by March 1, 2016. To qualify for the layoff program, they must five years of service by the same date.

Employees who are interested in the offers can only participate in one, according to the memo obtained by News On 6. The memo says the offers are part of the company's ongoing process to meet the needs of its customers and programs.
