Tulsa Police say a 27-year-old man was arrested following a standoff and shooting early Wednesday.

Police Sgt. Dave Walker says Marcus Runnels was booked into the Tulsa County jail on two complaints of shooting with intent to kill in connection with a shooting in the 1300 block of North Birmingham Place near Lewis late Tuesday.  Walker says just after 10 p.m. police were called about a man who had been shot in the head as he was backing his vehicle out of a driveway.

He said the suspect reportedly fired a shotgun from about 50 yards away twice, striking the victim once.

Police determined Runnels was driving a 1998 green-colored Saturn and found it about 1 a.m. outside a home in the 3000 block of East Woodrow near Harvard.

Sgt. Walker said when Runnel refused to come out, the department's special operations team was called and surrounded the home.  At about 5 a.m. Runnel surrendered.

He says the shooting appears to stem from an altercation involving the suspect who was reportedly driving erratically in the neighborhood.

Police say the victim is in critical condition at a Tulsa hospital on life support and is not expected to survive.
