TU Football: Philip Montgomery, Players Preview Virginia Tech

The Tulsa football team is in preparation to play Virginia Tech in the Independence Bowl on December 26. On Thursday, TU Head Coach Philip Montgomery and players met with the media to discuss this season and their upcoming matchup.

“It’s just really an honor to be in the Independence Bowl. Our team is very excited about it. Obviously, it was our main goal throughout the year, and our guys continued and kept battling, fighting for it,” said Montgomery.

Montgomery said that playing in a bowl game is a good step for Tulsa’s program. “For our university, it’s going to be great exposure and we have a great opponent in Virginia Tech,” he explained. “Obviously, Coach B was a hall of fame coach and so we’ve got our hands full, extremely talented defensively and offensively and you know what they do on special teams.”

As far as the Golden Hurricane, Montgomery said his team has been practicing throughout finals and they’re ready to really get to work and finish game preparation.
